Cars

before vs. after

this is my 97 Q45t. a little history behind this car… i’ve own this car for ~6 years. i originally bought this 170k mile v8 sedan for -1600usd to have a lower car insurance rate (having 3 cars on the policy gave me a cheaper rate than 2 cars) so let’s keep in mind that i technically never NEEDED this car, just wanted to save a few bucks.
After about 2 years of the Q sitting in my garage, only being turned on for light errands, i decided that i wanted to modify it to be more enjoyable to look at while it sits and does nothing. I found a set of 40kF/32kR bc coilovers on offerup (700usd shipped), got s14 megan racing and godspeed control arms(~700usd), extended the front lca, slotted the coilover tophats and ended up sitting around -9°F -12°R camber.
-9° gave the car a nice subtle look and was very easy to maintain… almost too easy, so i kept pushing it.
Okay 3 years in (~3200usd) I realized that driving a car with excessive camber is possible if you are constantly paying attention to your car’s wear and the road conditions and others around, but after a while it just feels like a inconvenience even for a grocery getter, so i decided to stop driving it completely and focus on creating the most ridiculously looking “functional” cambered car.
I started modifying every single suspension part one at a time myself, practicing my welding and engineering skills in the process. I Jumped from -12° to -16°, then a couple months later modified them again to-24°/-28° then again up to -36°… got stopped there because any further would result in major modifications that i didn’t want to invest in atm. -36°R camber had problems with the axel binding so i reverted back to -26° all around. 2-3 years later it still sits at -26° waiting to be driven, aligned, loved again… or pushed further.
The Q is not a car anymore; it has not,nor will be driven on public roads, since 2022. The Q stopped being valuable long before I purchased it and to whom feel that i “ruined a perfectly good car” can either invest their time into “saving” one of the hundreds of thousands of rotting cars your own way or… uh 🤫
for those wondering how much i spent…
approximately $6500usd in 6 years. i’ve learned more skills on this car than what i expected to and nobody can tell me that i wasted my time or money because it’s not something they would have done. Im satisfied with where the car is at the moment and plan on doing a more serious builds when i have more serious money. for now this is just for fun

  1. Start a build thread on a forum instead of listing every detail you can think of (attention seeking) while acting like you don’t care about others opinions. Fenders are fucked. I love VIP but this car and its fitment is garbage.

The minimal money you claim to have put into this vehicle is painfully obvious.

    Yeah… 😬😬

I defended you in the last thread, because it was just a post of a cool daily, not much more than that. Definitely not something to think warrants a build guide of lol. My defense was that you’re obviously a casual with limited money doing the best you can, and not trying to produce a car show worthy car.

But this post makes you seem arrogant about your shit box. While it’s a cool daily, it’s not something that anyone wanted details on.

Too much camber in my opinion but it’s your car and you do you
