While Hanley avoided direct comments about the Hilux’s engine, he did acknowledge the importance of hybrid and plug-in hybrid technologies in the brand’s future. Hanley emphasized that Toyota is actively developing hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems for their light commercial vehicles, including the Hilux. He envisions a future where a plug-in hybrid Hilux could offer up to 200 kilometers on electric power alone, making it a versatile option for both urban and off-road use.
