Mopar has a Harley Problem. How would you save it?

Stellantis North American has a case of HD Syndrome. Stagnant products, lack of diverse product offerings, and for Dodge, around 15 years of marketing geared towards having an old school ethos. And now they’re being left behind as other companies have options that CDJR simply doesn’t or that you can’t justify spending that much on a CDJR product.

One sub-30K MSRP vehicle in the CDJR portfolio. Dodge lost two products for a model year. Jeep doesn’t know what it wants its brand image to be besides Off Road Lifestyle™️.

According to the latest reports, Stellantis has $53 Billion of cash on hand. You’ve been selected as the new CEO. How do you save CDJR?

Make an affordable car people want to buy.

    Honestly:

Use Chrysler as a badge engineer for European models. Position as an American premium and luxury brand with comfort and styling, maybe with a performance model as a Grand Tourer option considering most premium brands do the same (Mercedes, BMW, etc).

Let Jeep be an actual off-road branch and give them something besides SUVs to work with. CDJR doesn’t have a proper AWD hatchback or sedan offering in the USA, so give it to Jeep and market it with some AMC attention as the Jeep Eagle.

Let Dodge be performance and Ram be trucks and commercial vehicles. Find some way to import the toolings for the Rampage into the US, to add a competitor for the Maverick.

  3. Gombrongler

Stellantis is “I know what ive got” as a car company manifest. 120k for a “Jeep SUV”? They know what theyve got, they know Americans love their shitty jeeps

  4. BcuzRacecar

Big issue is unable to get products to market on time – charger should have been out by now, new levante should have been out, new alfas plus a bigger alfa suv, new durango they seemed to have cancelled cuz they gave up – the STLA large platform for those is already done and supports normal hybrids so they should all have those

On the stla medium platform – the new compass isnt ready, cherokee they seem to have given up on, small alfa car not ready, there should be a 3row next gen journey on it, should also be a chrysler cuv hybrid and phev on it — the hornet/tonale took so long to make that its not on the new platform despite just coming out, its on the mod of the old ass sccs platform.

Need a cheap fake cuv hatch suv box thing on the on stla small platform either dodge or chrysler

ram midsize truck, modify rampage for america too

kill fiat in US, cut staff, try to close down a factory here, try to get french and italian govts to give cash

I love dodge and jeep, in stallantis’ hands though, I want them to go out of business. I wish all the stupid white moms would stop buying the big ass wagoneers and 4xe’s so that it would go out. Chrysler is done, dodge is gonna be done soon, its just jeep and ram. Please kill them off or sell it. please

Firstly I’d start with addressing the reliability, build quality and design issues that plague modern Chrysler Products.

Once that’s been resolved I would invest heavily in fleet sales and creating new vehicles for City/County/State services with new police vehicles, ambulances, meter maid cars etc. and trying to focus on rental sales (cheap advertising)

Since I have 2 brands to play with and since Chrysler only has one model offering I would expand both with rebadged cars that are popular in the Middle East (similar market to US) with luxury cars and CUVs with an emphasis on low cost luxury and reliability with the flagship car being a rebadged Maserati Quattroporte/Ghibli albeit with the Hurricane-6 TT and AT sourced from ZF. With that done I would bring over CUV designs from DS with refinement for the USDM.

Once profit and interest is renewed I would start a next gen charger/challenger using PHEV tech and the biggest engine I could fit under the hood.

Seems to me that every time they released a bold and weird car, it becomes a success.

So staying off the soap-shaped econoshitboxes and bringing back pizazz?

  8. JustinMagill

Sell Chrysler to China and use the money to hire some engineers that can build a SUV under 30k that is decently reliable and a sub 20k harchback that’s also somewhat reliable. Pull a Nissan and sell to everyone.

  9. Bubbly_Positive_339

Let them die. There’s a reason that car brands go out of business. Especially in the last 25 years. Oldsmobile, Saab, Pontiac, Hummer, Saturn, Plymouth, Fisker, Mercury

  10. CaptainPrower

It’s beyond saving. Shut it all down. Leave Ram and Jeep, and shut the rest down.

  11. InfinitePossibility8

Merge the trucks back into dodge because that was always stupid. Bring back the Hemi.

  12. JGRACEFAN95

Merge Ram back into Dodge, get a Grand Wagoneer version for Dodge that undercuts GM and ford, bring over the Opel Lineup as Dodges (Astra, Mokka, Frontera, Grandland EV), develope a class leading 3 row hybrid/electric CUV to go against the Grand Highlander/kia EV9, market the new charger as their Halo vehicle that gets people back into the brand. Move the Pacifica to the Dodge brand as a hybrid/ev minivan that isn’t replicated in the current ev space.

For Chrysler, reimagine it as an Franco American high style hybrid/ ev brand. Bring over DS/Peugeot/citroens as compact semi luxury compact 2 row/midsize 2 row/ midsize 3 row suvs and a halo sedan based off of the charger platform. Pacifica is positioned as world’s first aspirational minivan, high in tech and comfort.

Jeep, discontinue compass, replace with boxy compact Cherokee with 4wd. Make it a true og Cherokee successor with base model with minimal frills/options. Otherwise continue as the American Landrover/Range Rover with Wagoneer being the American Range Rover and the Wrangler the American defender.

Overall focus in modernizing factories and suppliers to re-establish quality and pare down mistakes. Stellantis has the opportunity to make mopar something actually competitive, I just don’t know they care to and are trying to milk as much money off of Jeep and screw the rest

  13. Imapirateship

Jeeps are so terrible and costly I just don’t get how they sell. They look like a 2014 Tahoe and cost 100k lol…and it’s a stallantis garbage product….wrangler is the only thing that’s still a jeep imo. There auv line jumped the shark a while back.

  14. Few-Land-5927

Make sedans and wagons sexy again for Chrysler and Dodge. Bring back the New Yorker, Polara, Neon, Magnum, Imperial, etc. Improve the R&D with the engines, transmissions, and electronics.

  15. Dexter942

Kill Chrysler and replace it with Lancia, keep Ram and Dodge around with Dodge getting more performance cars.

Jeep is the only thing keeping Stellantis afloat rn

Step 1: fly to DC in your private jets and complain about how people just want to buy fancy foreign cars, but make sure to take 0 responsibility for the conglomerate’s constant and baffling fumblings.

Step 2: spook everyone by feigning being on the edge of imploding, and make sure to use the potential of jobs being lost as a battering ram.

    Step 3: free money

….i mean come on they are experts at this just do it again. These mystical ideas that they can weather addressing awful build quality, awful customer service, erratic marketing, and actual make a lineup of cars people can comfortably afford is just silly…

  17. justswayplsandty

Hurricane chargers or challengers or have already released the new charger with the hurricane engine

  18. sparrownetwork

By implying that owning any other brand makes you gay and effeminate? Oh wait, that doesn’t work for HD either.

  19. JaredUnzipped

You have to sell the MOPAR brands to someone here in America that actually loves and respects them, first and foremost. That’s the only way to save them.

Produce affordable commuter sedans, SUVs, and two classes of trucks. It’s not rocket science. Stop trying to inject every single modern bell and whistle into these vehicles. Quit with the push for electric vehicles; it’s just not going to happen.

I should be able to walk onto a CDJ lot right now and see a small sedan, a few different crossover SUVs, a sports car, a minivan, a medium size truck and a full-size Ram pickup.

MOPAR’s new direction forward should be…

We’re not fancy, but we *are* dependable.

  20. ProofMusic4630

Well the Hornet shown here is a badge engineered Alfa. It is singularly the worst selling disaster in the US market; they have well over one year inventory in stock. It’s grossly overpriced primarily. I’m sure it will prove to be an unreliable, terrible resale headache.

  21. SchruteFarmsBeetDown

Sell it all except for Ram Jeep and Chrysler.

Start building cars as a single trim level. Single body style. Single drivetrain. No option packages. You get to pick from 5 or 6 colors. And that’s it. (Think Tesla)

They need to give up the idea they are in anyway a premium brand. Build simple, reliable cars for less.

No BS. No. Fluff. No flash. Just…a car.

  22. THE_HENTAI_LORD

bring back the neon and put a hellcat motor in it make it basically a hellcat swapped civic. boom

  23. Badhorse_6601

If I was a large conglomerate, I would probably let one of the grandchildren of the founder of Chysler Corporation buy chrysler back…
