It’s 1986, you have $12,000, and you’re looking for a mid-size family sedan. Which one would you pick?

I’m taking the Cutlass . No questions asked , no test drive .

The eagle is the only thing on there That’s actually worth money now if it’s a good condition.

The Eagle is interesting, but the Accord is probably what I’d go for.

  4. carkid36

Is this even a question? The Honda obviously.

Stanza, I want a gas tank door that requires a key

  6. BreadfruitFit7513

Anyone else know deceased people that drove most of these models?

In ’86? That Olds. In ’86, knowing what I know now? Eagle.

The Eagle for sure, since my house is along a shitty dirt road that has not seen maintenance for a century

Oldsmobile. If you said anything else you’re wrong and didn’t understand the assignment. It was the best selling car in America for a reason.

Accord & it’s not even close. I still see them on the road

If I can get that Taurus in a SHO, hands down winner

  12. badbatch

We had that Accord. My grandmother named her Suzie.

  13. flibbidygibbit

The Taurus. Those things were everywhere by 1987.

Damn you brought me back with that Buick century, my grandfather had one.

  15. R3TRO_131

Either the mazda, nissan, subaru, AMC or honda.

  16. thatvhstapeguy

Taurus. Unironically the pinnacle of automotive design.

  17. JustSomeWeirdGuy2000

Which ugly box would you like to drive?

  18. HistorianLopsided408

Jetta 16V. That wasn’t in your photos though. Those cars all suck!

  19. Fragrant-Taro-8508

As much as I love the Eagle and Taurus, the Accord is the best option. I had a 1992 as my first car. It was a complete pile of crap, leaked every fluid, half of it didn’t work. But it never left me stranded.

Probably the Taurus in this bunch. The Eagle never drove that great, the GM cars are garbage, the Japanese cars will all corrode into dust before their mechanicals crap out and the Chrysler will consume your family budget keeping it running properly.

accord. double wishbone suspension front and back when most luxury sports cars still had semi trailing arms.

  22. Satanic-mechanic_666

Accord LXi easy. Best driving car of the bunch and probably the most reliable.

  23. cosp85classic

Honda Accord hands down. Pop up lights, great reliability, good get-up-and-go, good ergonomics, comfortable seating, optional 5-speed manual… Best babe for the buck in the 80s in so many ways.

But that Jeep Eagle looks mighty tempting if I’m living in a snow prone area.
