I learned to drive a stick at age 17 in December 1983 on my friend’s gold MG Midget. 💛💛💛 I loved that little car but holy moly, it was in the shop alllll the time. We rode around with the top down in 30 degree weather just because we could (🤦♀️😎) and thought we were the coolest kids on the planet.

In the early 70s I drove my 67 MKII Midget from coast to coast, twice. Minimal problems, maximum fun.

They are really painful for a long drive.
Your face aches for days because of the huge grin you had all the way.
But they are also a bit uncomfortable and not very powerful. But who cares? It’s like driving a go kart.

So these were fun early on but like many British cars of that era they had some electrical problems and engines for them and others were less “peppy” than before. That said if you found one with a manual they were and are still fun to drive. Couple clubs in the area have them and other similar cars like the MG Midget such as the Triumph Spitfire and the like…
