    >In terms of price, Reuss said we could expect a slightly more expensive next-gen Bolt than the Bolt EUV, which starts at $28,795. “And it will just be one member of a family of Bolts, including an even lower cost option,” he said.

    >“The 2026 Bolt will offer the same value as the original Bolt and much more, and it will be a moneymaker for us,” Reuss said. “Think about that.”

    >It’s already been revealed that GM won’t be bringing over the original hatchback Bolt to the automaker’s Ultium platform, just the larger Bolt EUV. Without the hatchback, it remains to be seen which segment the next-gen low-cost Bolt will occupy.

Prediction: It will be slightly larger than the original Bolt EUV and while the LT model will be more expensive than the Bolt EUV, it will still end up under $30,000 to start. Then in a year or so they’ll slightly increase the price on the LT and bring in an LS model.

A Trailblazer LT FWD with the 1.3L engine starts at $25,990, a Trax LT $23,595. They likely will not want the new Bolt to cannibalize the sales of those cars too much.

The verge continues its tradition of nothing burger articles they pretend is journalism

I’m hoping they use the new Trax body style. That thing is selling like hotcakes. They’re everywhere.

  4. I remember GM saying they would not bring back the bolt ev hatchback, but “family of bolts” is not something people usually use to describe different trims of the same body. Did they change course? or perhaps the mythical ai generated bolt TRUCK is coming /s

Yet another American legacy automaker that can’t make anything normal sized. The Bolt is dead, replaced by another crossover wearing the Bolt name as a hat.

    > General Motors teased some new details about the next-generation Chevy Bolt, which is expected to ***make its official debut later this year*** as a model year 2026 vehicle

What? You can’t release a 2026 year vehicle in November or December 2024.

good for gm, and for ev buyers. home purchase affordability has become a significant issue and will only hurt the sales of higher priced evs as new buyers look more to price points closer to entry level.

Below $30k before credit but credit eligible would be siiiick.

Cheap is the way, assuming it’s good. It’s a shame, I feel like the bolt euv got overlooked, or under promoted. Either way. Mazda has a cheap EV (CH only) Kia EV3, Rivian R3, Volvo EX30. We’re getting a good amount, so I’m happy for another one coming out, if it can compete.

I remember all the screeching about GM killing the Bolt. They were 100% going to bring it back, they just needed time to update it.

I owned a Bolt once, it was a plucky little EV, was zippy around town. Was very efficient to boot. Hope they address the seating comfort. Those economy airline seats were not the business.

Just driving behind one today and really wished they had better continuity. Just when it started to do well they had the battery problems, then as it was being canceled it started doing well again. I had one on lease and loved it for what it was – small and efficient and fun.
