Lamborghini started as a farm equipment manufacturer producing tractors and other equipment. Its founder Ferruccio Lamborghini enjoyed driving his Ferrari 250 GT. One day, he complained to Ferrari about his car’s clutch. This bruised the ego of Ferrari’s founder Enzo Ferrari. Rather than investigate the issue, he wrote a personal letter insulting Lamborghini. In spite of Ferrari, Lamborghini went on to start his own car company and swiftly put the Lamborghini 350GTV into production. As the rivalry intensified, Lamborghini in 1972 sold the farming equipment marque Lamborghini Trattori to farming equipment rival Società Accomandita Motori Endotermici (present-day SDF) to focus on developing, producing, and marketing cars. Lamborghini Trattori is still producing tractors to this day.

Lamborghini tractors and Lamborghini cars share a name and that’s all. The tractirs were not anything special compared to other brands. It’s a bit like Rolls Royce airplane jet engines that are as mainstream as General Electric ones.
