I have seen V8 engines put into cars like these and even smaller. Anything is possible. But it will probably require quite a bit of time, custom fabrication and money.

The Maverick was sold with the Windsor V8. Just compare the engine dimensions.

Oh man, I remember the newspaper ads for those cars with the base model at $1,995

Anything will work if you’re willing to pay for it. I’ve seen an old Bug with a V12 crammed into the front compartment.

Gonna take this opportunity to ask a question that’s been bugging me for years:

I see people hating on smaller models like Mavericks, Chevy Novas, etc. quite often. Why is that? I’m Australian so I don’t know the ins-and-outs of American classic car culture, but a lot of people in the crowd seem to hate on these cars. Personally, they seem awesome to me! Less weight, but you can still fit bigass V8s in them. If you want to go fast, you can have shorter gearing and take off like a bat out of hell; if you want a cruiser, use a taller diff ratio to drop the rpm but still take off faster than a bigger model with the same running gear. The only downside is less space, but let’s be real, 99% of the time all that interior space is unnecessary. So why the hate? Were they just rust-prone or something?

Mavericks had a 5.0 Windsor available. It’s much narrower than the 5.0 Coyote. It would take some reconfiguration of the strut towers. Perhaps a 351 Boss?

Anything will fit in anywhere with enough pressure and lubrication

You will have to remove the shock towers and install a Mustang II-style front suspension. Guys have put Coyotes in these cars.
